HVAC Rebates Tahoe and Truckee 2026

South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe City use IVPUD. Truckee uses Liberty Utilities. Both have rebate programs for heat pumps and AC units. High-altitude cold-climate heat pumps often qualify for extra rebates. Fresh Air installs units in Tahoe and Truckee with crews trained for the high-altitude conditions. CSLB 945361, in business since 2009.

Liberty Utilities Rebates

Liberty Utilities offers heat pump rebates of up to $4,000 per unit in Truckee. The unit must be installed by a licensed contractor with a C-20 or General B license. Funds are limited. Check the Liberty website for current amounts and rules.

IVPUD Territory

Incline Village Public Utility District covers parts of the Nevada side of Tahoe. IVPUD runs its own rebate programs. Contact IVPUD directly for current offers since amounts and rules change.

Federal and State Credits

Cold-climate heat pumps can qualify for state IRA rebate programs. Some may also qualify under federal pathways. Fresh Air can tell you which units meet the current rules before you commit to a purchase.

Tahoe Truckee Rebate Basics

  • Truckee uses Liberty Utilities, not SMUD or PG&E.
  • South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe City fall under IVPUD.
  • Liberty Utilities has offered up to $4,000 per heat pump unit. Check current amounts at their site.
  • High-altitude cold-climate heat pumps may qualify for more rebate tiers.
  • Fresh Air files rebate paperwork for Tahoe and Truckee customers.
  • We serve South Lake Tahoe, Truckee, Tahoe City, Kings Beach, and Incline Village.

Why Cold-Climate Units Matter at Altitude

At 6,000 to 7,000 feet, temps drop well below those in the valley. A standard heat pump loses output in extreme cold. Cold-climate heat pumps are built to run at lower temps and still heat well. These units often score higher on efficiency ratings, which helps qualify for more rebate programs.

A full heat pump swap in the Tahoe area runs $8,000 to $15,000 before rebates. Fresh Air uses milestone billing and can do most installs in about 48 hours. We have done 900+ units since 2009 and know the high-altitude permit and code rules in this area.
